The Band
Event Horizon is a 5-person, female-fronted cover band based in San Diego, California. The band plays rock and dance/pop music from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s with a focus on songs that are highly recognizable and danceable. We pride ourselves on having a fun and varied set list that makes us stand out among other cover bands. We keep our shows fresh by not only playing current and classic hits, but also songs that are loved yet rarely heard. Event Horizon includes lead singer JENNIFER McKENNA, drummer FRED ROSE, rhythm guitarist JAMES MENZEL, bassist BRIANE MILNE, and lead guitarist ERIK MOBERLY. Collectively, the band has over 100 years of musical experience to draw from, including playing in cover bands and originals. The band’s goal is to make every gig an event – fun and full of energy. JENNIFER McKENNA was born in New Jersey but moved to Callifornia in 20??. She is an attorney and in addition to fronting Event Horizon with her phenomenal voice, enjoys acting and producing community theater throughout San Diego.
FRED ROSE was born and raised in San Diego but has lived in Montana, Massachussettes, and Georgia. He is a neuropsychologist by day, kickass drummer by night. Yes, he is the Professor on the drum kit.
Fred plays Yamaha drums, Sabian cymbals, and Promark sticks. He endorses Empire Ears for in-ear monitoring.
JAMES MENZEL was born in Milwaukeebut grew up in one of the hotbeds of music in Middle America: Minneapolis, MN. He started playing guitar at age 12 and was in gigging bands by age 16. He recently recorded a CD (Jim Menzel Project) consisting of blues-based rock written entirely by Jim. Jim relocated to San Diego a couple years ago and continues his love of music and entertaining with the band.
Erik Moberly brings his unique flare to lead guitar and occasional lead vocals. Erick has a long history of playing in bands all over San Diego before finding a home here with Event Horizon. Come check out his blistering solos and our next gig!
Brian Milne Hailing from Detroit, Brian began as a guitarist/singer playing in all-originals bands and touring the midwest until relocating to San Diego. Looking for a new challenge he picked up the bass and of course, took to it immediately. Adding in background and the occasional lead vocal, and Brian is a force in the band!
